Joan,
I have been afflicted with clinical depression
since I was a teenager. I am getting a lot better
now thanks to new therapies. But, nothing, I mean
nothing has meant more to me than when I saw a
photo of your etching of Our Foremothers! Oh, it
does wonders for me to see it daily. I have cut a
copy out of the National Museum of Women in the
Arts Magazine. I copied it and put in my purse.
It's everywhere. Can you please tell me how I can
get a framed or ready to be framed version. I know
how expensive it is, I already looked on the
Jewish Museum site. There's no way I can afford
that, but is there any other replica that I can
get to frame. I believe that daily, as i read the
names, I am strengthen and stronger. It has become
my life line. Please reply soon. Peace

hope I'm not tracking in mud from the garden all
over these pages , but just had to take a break
and decided to wander thru your life. Got about
halfway thru the book and had to put it down for
a while.Inspiring would be a huge understatement.
I can only read a page or two at a time, then I
have to put it and weep a bit...but that's a good
thing. Any way I'm proud to join the ranks of
those who look up to you with awe and admiration.
Good to have you in the vanguard.

Joan -
What an honor to have chatted with you today.
Your site is wonderful. It conveys the peaceful
nature of your soul. Everybody has trials and
obstacles in their life. What sets us apart is
how we deal with them. You are a shining example
of how to confront life's difficulties with
grace, dignity and generousity of spirit. Bless
you for all you do. And together we will beat
this thing!

I just read part 1 and I thank you for sharing
yourself. It seems your pd symptoms were really
severe. I'm not diagnosed but have tremor on my
right side and stomach and soreness/stiffness. And
my left hand has started to twitch and my left leg
a little. Can you have pd symptoms on both sides
but it be predominant in one? I've been diagnosed
with ET at one neuro two years ago and just
recently no et but possible RLS at another. I was
just diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and have
swallowing problems. Most of these Parkinson sites
talk about being dxd but what about having many of
the symptoms and not knowing? I am so frustrated.
My husband thinks that I want to have a disease
and I don't but I know somethings wrong! I go back
to my neuro in a couple weeks. Do I stick with him
or keep going around getting second opinions as
long as insurance will pay? I thank you for your
encouragement! May God bless you, Joan!

Joan,
We have had PD about the same length of time -
13 years. I have had DBS and it was succesful,
but we all know it's not a cure. I have 2
daughters (22 and 23 1/2) and my husband, Neil,
have been my rocks. They can tolerate the disease
if I don't cry. That's hard sometimes, but I tell
myself that's the least you can do for them. After
reading your story, I feel like I gained a
friend. Best wishes, Friend. Sincerely, Paula
from PA

The tendency of many of us is to crawl into a
